Clinical test
Urine:
103 patients (during a routine checkup) who referred to the Saadat Abad Pathobiology Lab (Tehran, Iran) were investigated.
Of the 103 patients,41 were found to have UTI (Urinary Tract Infection) by the laboratory and ChitoCheck. Escherichia coli was the most prevalent pathogenic yield from the cultures; the data can be seen in Table 1.

The accuracy, sensitivity and specificity of the ChitoCheck test for detection of wound infection were 97.01 %, 95.02 % and 100 % respectively. All results were significant (p ≤0.01).

Wound :
50 patients who referred to the Baharloo Hospital (Tehran, Iran) were investigated.
Of the 50 patients, 32 were found to have wound infection by the laboratory and ChitoCheck. Staphylococcus aureus was the most prevalent pathogenic yield from the cultures; the data can be seen in Table1.

The accuracy, sensitivity and specificity of the ChitoCheck test for detection of wound infection were 96 %, 97 % and 94.1 % respectively. All results were significant (p ≤0.01).
